Blue to Black

From the fiery flames and ashes

That once was our relationship

Come the hues of

The empty distance

And the decay of

What we once were

Could have been even

Now there are only

The hues of

Blue and black

Finally

Slipping fully into

The black

With no communication

Breeds discontent

A relationship malnourished

Is the decay of connection

As they stand there

With their defenses up

Battling you

All you can do is look at

What once was

What should of and could of

If you didn’t go to war against

The one you loved and chose

Instead

Your relationship

Turned situationship

Leaves only the marks

The bruises

Unwanted trophies

As you are lost in only two hues

Two colors to mark and signify

What is left of the two of you

Like an inmate

All you can do is acknowledge

How deep and dark

Blue has turned to black

The shift to

Obscurity
