Reasonable Doubt
My intent is clear
Like a beacon shining light
Obviously to oblivion
Like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
I am lost in an altered reality
Where what I want and seek
Are the search for
Monty Python’s holy grail
Without the side splitting comedy
I want you
In love with you
Need you permanently with me
Then I look at the
Empirical evidence
See the disparity
I hear what you say
Support like a lunar eclipse rotation
Backed up by actions
Of a limited creation
Amid this doubt
Still I stayed
Gave hope a try anyway
I am left
In wonderment
Doubting words and actions
Cascading within a bottle of
Balatore and Guinness stout
I hang my head
Laugh at myself
Be prepared
Lead from the front
Mean what you say
None ever
Prepared me for
Obvious and not so obvious
Doubt
